LAKAS-BAYANIHAN CREDIT COOPERATIVE: A BRIEF NARRATIVE

From Idea to Concept:

The Lakas-Bayanihan Credit Cooperative (LBCC) traces its roots from a very noble cause and idea as espoused by the Bayanihan spirit of the Filipinos, and the concepts and principles of the Republic Act 9520, s-2008, otherwise known as the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008. A group of commissioned officers from the Armed Forces and Philippine National Police agreed to share their time and resources to come up with a core group to jumpstart a cooperative of which membership will be composed of officers, men, and women of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). The process of establishing the LBCC began in earnest with the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) delivering and supervising the conduct of the first LBCC Pre-Membership seminar in September of 2020.

The slow road to Reality

The global COVID-19 pandemic has, and continues to severely affect people all over the world. The infancy of LBCC was not exempt from this phenomenon so, for most of the remainder of 2020 and first half of 2021, attaining the full operational capacity of the cooperative became painstakingly slow but deliberate. With the establishment of a management team to oversee all preparations, the goal for an October 2021 formal opening became a possibility.

Birth Pains:

Like any new organization, LBCC has its fair share of difficulties. But, as the chosen motto goes: “Kaya natin yan, sa lakas ng ating bayanihan.” We are confident of overcoming any obstacle along the way. Every bit of progress must be measured against our goals. And we must ensure that we are always on track towards the attainment of our objectives. Our plans have been carefully laid out such that we are able to deliver essential financial capabilities and services to every member.

Our Vision and Mission:

The LAKAS-BAYANIHAN Credit Cooperative vision is: “To be a premier cooperative that is stable, self-sustaining, progressive and able to provide the best financial and other cooperative-based traditional and online services to every member.” To attain this vision, our mission is to establish secure, financially sound management and credit services so that our member-clients are able to pursue and realize their potentials as well as ably assist them in improving their economic situations. Our ultimate objective is to be substantially self-sufficient, financially secure and stable, adaptive and agile. We shall be ready to be competitive in the new normal. In so doing, the following are our immediate goals:

Establish and nurture linkages with financial services and institutions of the AFP, PNP, BJMP, BFP, PCG and other banking and financial corporations in order to maximize effective and meaningful partnerships;
Ensure compliance with all regulatory mandates and adopt a culture of excellence in every transaction
Harness the potentials of modern technologies to maximum effect to provide a high degree of customer satisfaction and experience. Excellent Service: Our Top Priority Providing low-interest credit and loans services to our members is our top priority. This ensures our reason for being and relevance to the ever-changing times. By maintaining a high level of trust and confidence with our clients, partners and stakeholders, we ensure that they keep us on the top of theis lists. In the true spirit of Lakas Bayanihan, the cooperative truly reflects the very spirit of the Law and of cooperativism.
